Job Description

Senior Software Engineer

Sigil Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable software applications and platforms. This individual will work closely with engineering, product, and technical stakeholders to build reliable, high-performance solutions in modern cloud-based environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong software engineering fundamentals, experience building production-grade applications, and the ability to contribute to architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment. Experience with cloud-native systems, distributed applications, APIs, and AI-enabled products is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications and services
  • Build and support APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and solutions
  • Contribute to software architecture, system design, and technical decision-making
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
  • Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
  • Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and production issues
  • Support CI/CD, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies where appropriate, including AI-enabled development and application capabilities

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong programming experience with one or more languages such as Python, Java, C#, Go, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Experience developing backend services, APIs, microservices, or distributed applications
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, performance, and security
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing AI-enabled applications or integrating LLMs and AI/ML services
  • Experience with high-scale SaaS or enterprise software platforms
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud automation
  • Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience
